January is Restaurant Month in Morro Bay, California. Restaurant month is a time to PLAN to be in San Luis Obispo County! During january Chefs throw open their doors and welcome their guests with outrageously delicious prixe fix menus. Menus range from 3-4 courses for $30-$40 p/person.
One of our favorite restaurants in Morro Bay is “Windows on the Water”, and as the name indicates the discriminating diner is treated to not only fabulous fare, but truly amazing views over the Bay and out toward Morro Rock. At the time of this writing their prixe fix menu was not available, but rest assured that Chef Neil Smith has something special planned.

christmas at Hearst Castle
Hearst Castle is always special but never quite so during holiday tours at Hearst Castle. During the season, you will be treated to the Castle dressed for Christmas, and docents donning period attire to share the stories of the delights of the castle in Mr. Hearst’s time.
Conceived in 1919 by newspaper giant William Randolph Hearst (1863-1951) and designed by architect Julia Morgan (1872-1957) Hearst Castle began as a hilltop retreat, and over the years the estate became a museum, showcasing part of Mr. Hearst’s extraordinary collections.
Experience the 1920s and 30s grandeur that surrounded W. R. Hearst and his guests at La Cuesta Encantada—Spanish for “Enchanted Hill”—with guided Hearst Castle tours.

When was the last time you spent Fall at the El Colibri Hotel and Spa? With Fall in full swing, it’s time to pack your bags, load the car and get yourself over to California’s Central Coast.
You may be asking why Fall is special? In a largely agricultural community, Fall is the time to celebrate the harvest reaped from all the hard work of the many months prior. So, in a word: celebrations are the reason to visit. Well yes, the celebrations are plenty but on second thought there is also the turning of the leaves. Imagine driving down Hwy 46 and seeing nothing but miles and miles of vineyards, their leaves a melange of colors. As you weave your way through our golden hills, you’ll see fiery red, burnt orange, lemon yellow and hues of purple and brown as the vineyard leaves prepare to drop. It’s a sight equalled only by the leaves of New England.
So whether you are looking for a harvest celebration or a peaceful drive through wine country – Fall at the El Colibri Hotel and Spa is sure to be a wonderful visit.
