If you’re like me, I’m always looking for something new and special to show my love for my mom. She’s received countless bouquets of flowers over the years, jewelry, books, hats and scarves. The gifts she seems to enjoy the most are those she can share with someone.
“Ideal Hotel if you are Traveling Highway 1”

We booked this hotel because it was located close to Highway 1 and we needed a hotel close to Hearst castle which we were visiting the following day. The quality of the hotel was outstanding and the staff were very helpful on our arrival.
The hotel has a underground car park with enough spaces for all the guests.
We booked a King-size room and it was fantastic. There was plenty of room and all the furniture was modern, there was a leather sofa which was very comfortable.
At the El Colibri, everyone on staff knows that we strive diligently to meet and exceed the expectations of our guests – it’s such a pleasure when it all comes together!
“Loved This Place”

I find it a little nerve wracking to book smaller, non chain hotels online. Not that I haven’t had bad experiences with chain hotels but you have a some level of comfort knowing that certain standards are LIKELY to be met. I couldn’t have made a better choice of hotels by booking El Colibri. We wished we had more time in Cambria just to stay here longer. The hotel was beautifully furnished and decorated in a modern, subdued yet completely original style.
Where else can you live where you have this absolutely gorgeous Winter weather? Not many places! It’s February 27, and the last few days have been filled with lots of sunshine and warm weather. In fact, today we enjoyed 70 degree weather.
I’m not sure what it is, but I do LOVE Valentine’s Day. Admittedly, I’ve always had a ‘thing’ for hearts, and, in fact, have a beautiful red stone heart paperweight sitting aside me as I write this. Hearts show up in other places in my home, too. Like the funky little string of wooden hearts that hang by a piece of twine over a photo of my children, and the 4′ x 4′ modern painting of repeating hearts that hangs above my bed. So, yeah, I guess you could say I do have a thing for hearts.
Hearst Castle, located a mere 7 minute drive from the El Colibri Hotel and Spa is the treasure of the Central Coast. Visiting this extraordinary and majestic home of the late William Randolph Hearst is, in itself, reason enough to plan a trip to the Central Coast. Whether your interests rest with history, architecture, the arts, landscaping and gardens or perhaps the Hollywood gossip and stories of the 40’s – you are sure to be satisfied.
If you have yet to see an adult elephant seal up close and personal – NOW is your chance! This time of year a large population of elephant seals arrives at the same location annually to give birth to the young, and mate for the season.
