Cabs of Distinction Event April 26, 2014

Folks in Paso Robles take their wine very seriously – especially those who make the area’s Cabernet Sauvignon.

If you are a Cab lover like many of us around here, you’ll enjoy our Cabs of Distinction event this Saturday, April 26th being held at River Oaks Hot Springs in Paso Robles, California. A “Grand Tasting” ticket will get you in the door to taste all 28 Cabernet and four Garagiste producer wines, each paired with artisanal cheese and Charcuterie. Catered lunches will be provided by premier local restaurants and caterers. There will be chocolate tastings, a barrel-making demonstration and, of coarse, live music.

If you want to step it up a notch, consider a “Premium-Reserve” ticket for $150 which gets you in an hour ahead of the crowd, or better yet the “Luxury VIP” ticket for $225 which admits you to an exclusive vintner-hosted reception and lunch at Thomas Hill Organics at 11 a.m. This multi-course lunch is paired with special Cabernet and red Bordeaux wines for a most tasty and memorable experience. After lunch you’ll enjoy complimentary shuttle service to the event at River Oaks Hot Springs.

The “Grand Tasting” starts at 2 p.m., the “Premium-Reserve” at 1 p.m. and the “Luxury VIP” at 11:00 a.m. For more information or to purchase you tickets visit the group’s website.

Can you imagine a sight more sublime? One just might think the rainbow really does end in the waters just off Cambria… We invite you to discover the often sunny days, but also those magical ones tinged with rain where you just might discover the end to your rainbow.

“Pleasantly Surprised” – Guest Review

El Colibri Hotel and SpaMy husband and I wanted to spend our 5 year wedding anniversary on the coast. I spent weeks researching hotel after hotel from Santa Barbara to San Simeon. The El Colibri Hotel and Spa met almost all of my criteria.

I prefer boutique hotels to chains always so I looked for the best one I could find. We wanted to stay in a small beach town where we could walk to restaurants and shops as well as walk to the beach. We wanted a room that was well designed, inviting and comfortable without being dated. And of course, we needed a hotel that would work with our budget. I am always on the lookout for great deals and if you book through the hotel’s website you have the option of a non-refundable price. So since we knew our exact dates and didn’t plan on canceling we booked that price and saved a bundle. We were able to stay in the Woodland View Superior King with Spa tub (Jacuzzi tub) room for such a steal.

When we arrived we were greeted by Judy, one of the nicest, friendliest and welcoming people I have ever met! She immediately put us in a good mood and gave us the feeling that we had definitely picked the right hotel. We got to our room and were blown away with how kind the hotel staff was by putting rose petals on our bed in the shape of a heart and leaving a bottle of sparkling wine for us as well as a note congratulating us on our anniversary. I know the hotel offers a romance package but we wanted to save some money and not book that package but the hotel decided to help us celebrate anyways and we couldn’t be more grateful for their kindness.

The jacuzzi tub put our relaxing getaway into full drive and the fireplace allowed for us to end our nights cozy and warm. And even though I would have loved staying right on the coast with a room overlooking the ocean, I found it far more rewarding to be able to not only walk to the beach just a couple minutes away but also walk to get our morning lattes at Cambria Coffee Roasting Co. I loved that I could open the sliding glass door to let the fresh air in and hear the birds chirping during the day as well as smell the soft ocean breeze.

So thank you El Colibri Hotel and Spa for being exactly what we were looking for and so much more.

“Fabulous Place to Stay” – Guest Review

“Fabulous Place to Stay”
El Colibri Hotel and Spa
We booked this hotel last minute when the property we previously booked indicated that we may have an issue due to someone in our party who had allergies to pets. I have to tell you, so thrilled we stayed here! Extremely beautiful, spacious room! Really comfortable beds, great fireplace, large and beautiful bathroom. Lovely spaces on the first floor for reading, breakfast or a glass of wine. Attentive front desk, wonderful suggestions for meals, and literally 5 minute drive to downtown Cambria. Beautiful beach walk right next door. Cant say enough about this place – if you are visiting Hearst Castle, or just in the area, you want to stay here!! Spotless, modern, and very relaxing!
