Annual BBQ with Adelaida Springs Beef & Rangeland Wines
What's better than the best hamburger your little taste buds have ever laid eyes one + the tastiest (and sustainably grown) wines around? Ok fine, trick question...Nothing!
Last week we were fortunate enough to enjoy the company of Laird & Lisa Foshay, owners of Adelaida Springs Ranch where they raise grass-fed cattle and grow vines. Total winning combo - especially when we get to enjoy the fruits of their labor at their annual BBQ celebration.
Adelaida Springs Ranch is 1500 acres of the most beautiful land around, nestled betweenPaso Robles and Morro Bay in SLO County. The Forshay's moved to SLO County in 2001 and began the operation that would become Adelaida Springs Ranch in 2002. Since then they've developed truly sophisticated sustainable growing practices for both their beef and wine businesses.
The cattle are naturally bred and raised at the Ranch. They spend their entire lives ranging and roaming over the property's 1500 acres. This means that the cattle are always antibiotic and hormone free and produce only the best meat around. Good for you, good for your family, and good for the earth.
Now it's enough for most Ranches to produce the best beef around, but not for the Foshay's. Adelaida Springs has 40 acres of vines on their ranch as well and they're now producing sustainably grown wines under the label Rangeland Wines. Their first vintage was only released in February of 2010 and they're on a role, now offering a Zin, a Merlot, a hearty Petite Syrah and a Cab Sauvignon. Only 400 cases are produced so each bottle is very special and should be enjoyed.
We absolutely love Rangeland Wines at the El Colibri Wine Bar (and Rangeland has even poured a few time at our tastings and music nights). Be sure to check out Adelaida Springs Ranch - they do tours! - and come visit us for a tasting.
We're already looking forward to next year's BBQ! Thanks Adelaida Springs Ranch for a great time!
