FIve Star Review - Best hotel of our three-week California trip
Many people we see at the hotel are stopping in the El Colibri for a night or two on their way up or down Highway One - trying to catch a glimpse of the terrific beauty of the Central Coast. You'd be surprised (well...maybe you wouldn't if you've been here before) at how many people tell us that Cambria is their favorite part of the whole trip. It's such a terrific little town with a truly stunning beach. You won't be disappointed (in us or in Cambria!).

PS: This image is of the Elephant Seals who visit San Simeon (just 6 miles from the El Colibri) twice every year. Cute, huh?
“Best hotel of our three-week California trip”
We stayed at the El Colibri for two nights in late June. It was a perfect, relaxing stop. The room was large, beautiful and very quiet. Our room backed up to a green forest giving us total privacy. We walked the boardwalk to Moonstone Beach, but the actual steps down to the beach were too steep for me to handle, so we more easily accessed the beach from Shamel Community Park. The breakfast each morning was an up-graded Continental Breakfast, with granola, yogurt, & fruit. We had great smoked tri-tip at the Main Street Grill in Cambria for dinner. Hearst Castle is a few miles north where we thoroughly enjoyed a pre-reserved tour. Four miles north of the Castle on Hwy. 1 we had our National Geographic Moment at the Elephant Seal Rookery, watching the young male elephant seals jostle with one another.
Much thanks to Carla and her staff at this small, intimate hotel for making our stay so enjoyable.
