September is California Wine Month

Around here, every month is California Wine Month for us. We’re always on the lookout for new vineyards and wineries to taste and we’re always celebrating the sumptuous wines coming from our very own Central Coast rolling hills. But this month, September, it’s officially California Wine Month. That means that there are all kinds of official events going on around the county (and throughout California). We thought we’d round up a few of the events we’re excited about so you won’t have to.

Celebrate California Wine Month and the Versatility of American Rhône Varietal Wines at Vina Robles

Vina Robles is one of the best known wineries around. Not only do they have a stellar set up of wines and grapes grown at their gorgeous location in Paso Robles, but they also have stunning grounds and an art gallery. It’s the sort of place that you could spend all Saturday at and hardly realize it! If you’re in the neighborhood, make sure to stop by tasting room and ask all about the American Rhone Varietals they produce.

Saucelito Canyon Experts Tasting

Have you always wanted to be an expert wine taster? You know the kind with a palette of gold who can taste and smell those subtle fruity smells or earthy notes of soil and oak. Well, the secret is that everyone can be. We all have a nose and tastebuds and just need a little encouragement. At Saucelito Canyon in SLO, they’ll help you craft perfect (for you!) tasting notes with an Aroma wheel to help. You can then go ahead and discuss your notes with their winemaker. What an experience! And a chance to learn a whole lot about what it means to be an expert taster.

Vineyard and Winery Tour at Chateau Margene

Many folks who make it out to the Central Coast never make it to Creston—a lovely horse community just a bit inland from Paso Robles. Well, I won’t be the last to say this, but get yourself on over there! It’s the “undiscovered” area of Paso and has some beautiful wineries. If you’re interested in understanding the vineyard and winemaking process, Chateau Margene is offering Saturday and Sunday tours. You’ll be able to taste straight from the barrel and learn a good bit about winemaking straight from the source.
