The Turning of the Leaves…
I don't think there is a much more beautiful sight than the turning of the leaves. It's happening here in the acres upon acres of vineyards in San Luis Obispo County. Driving along Highway 46, I found myself immersed in these undulating waves of reds, russets, magentas, tangerines, chartreuse, golds, and seemingly every color in between - it was a literal symphony for the eyes.
Tablas Creek Vineyard recently created a nice photoessay of their harvest, which includes some shots of the leaves changing colors, as well as photos of their bountiful grapes. Take a look!
If you have yet to experience a vineyard-version of the turning of the leaves, it's happening right now. It's a once a year experience (necessarily?!), and the kind of stuff that memories with loved ones are made of. If you can free up a day or a weekend, grab your loved ones and head out on HWY 46 West. The drive is sure to delight!
