What Are you Making for Thanksgiving?

Here on the blogosphere it seems like Thanksgiving is all everyone is talking about—and not just Thanksgiving as a holiday of warmth, gratitude, and family, but Thanksgiving food! Can you tell me of any single day of the year that has more delicious food? I thought not! When we’re not gushing about our job here at the El Colibri, seriously, the best California hotel around, we’re thinking up new ways to feed our family.

As a tribute to all the great food, menu plans swirling in my head, and recipes stacking up in my kitchen, I thought I’d throw together a mini “wish-list” Thanksgiving menu from some of my favorite food bloggers from around the web. I’m not going to do too much detail and plan out your whole evening (since what makes Thanksgiving so special is using all those hand-me-down recipes from Mom and Gramma), rather I’ll just mention the top few dishes that I can’t seem to get out of my mind.

Deb, over at Smitten Kitchen, is my totally inspiro-blogger. Everything she makes my mouth water and gets my out the door to try to wrestle up the ingredients for her latest feast.  One of her latest creations looks just too good not to share here. I’m thinking a the sweetness of the pears with the tartness of the cranberries, a rich, ruby red color, and all covered by a crunchy sweet crumble topping. If I weren’t such a piecrust snob, all I’d eat all day would be crumbles and this Pear, Cranberry, and Gingersnap Crumble looks phenomenal.

Annie, of Annies Eats, is a totally remarkable woman. Not only is she a very successful food blogger and mom to two darling kids, but she’s a DOCTOR! Seriously! I think there must be more than 24 hours in a day for Annie. Yet, somehow she still manages to come up with some of my favorite recipes on the web – including this revamp of baked spinach (that gross vegetable of your childhood has just gotten a whole lot better).

And finally, my third pick for this season of food and deliciousness is Shawnda the Foodie Bride who has cooked up a decadent cocktail for the season, for those of us still a bit confused by this gorgeous weather we’ve been having (what! It’s November?!). Her Cranberry Margarita is the perfect solution to get you in the mood for the holidays.

Well, now that I’ve shared some of the recipes I most want to get on my table this holiday season, how about you? Have you been craving anything in particular this season? Do you read any of these food blogs—I must say I’m obsessed! Good Eating from the El Colibri! By the way, aren't their photos amazing!!
