Moonstone Beach:
This unique, black sand beach is just a short walk from the El Colibri's front doors. Stroll down the Moonstone Beach Boardwalk through the beautiful Santa Rosa State park where you will be guided to Moonstone Beach. Once there you will find an abundance of small moonstones and jade pebbles, as well as warm pools of water created by the nearby Santa Rosa Creek, perfect to dip your feet in. And don't forget to bring a jacket, the ocean breeze can be a bit chilly!
Piedras Blancas Lighthouse:
Built in the 1800's, this lighthouse is a historical remembrance of the whaling and merchant ships used to supply lumber and farm produce to local San Simeon. This 115 foot structure has been kept alive by the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse Station Association ever since. As one of the tallest lighthouses on the western seaboard, it is a real treat to be able to visit this historical sight. The original light beacon sits in the middle of Cambria to this day.
Public tours of the Piedras Blancas Light Station are offered September 1 through June 14 on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 10 a.m.
The price is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 6 -17, no fee for children 5 and under.

Elephant Seal Viewing:
Elephant seals can reach lengths of 14 feet and weigh nearly 6,000 pounds. These marine mammals spend 80% of their lives in the ocean, coming to land only to breed and molt. At the Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal Rookery, just up the coast from Cambria, hundreds of elephant seals can be seen year round.
